Proper update

Just finished my Econs and English module tutorials. Still have JS (Japanese Studies) and E-commerce discussion questions to do, the piling readings and CL (Changing Landscapes) webcast to watch. At least I managed to finish 2 out of the many. (=P)

A few events to update on.

My primary school is gone. This picture was taken by my friend about one or two weeks ago and now the building had been demolished.

Last Friday was my grandmother's birthday and we had a mini gathering cum celebration at one of my uncles' house. The picture was taken when my grandmother was talking to my brother through MSN. (By the way, that is my laptop. Haha.)

Two weeks ago, I went to KBox with my cousins to celebrate the birthday of one of them. That is the only picture I took because I did not charge the batteries. (=P) For details, please go to Shermaine's blog.

Lacking of updates

I haven't been able to update because I am sick, busy and slacking. I know the latter two are contradicting but I was really busy the initial few days of the week and after I fell sick, I started slacking.

I have been down with fever for the past three days and it feels horrible. I forced myself to go to school and attend lectures and tutorials even when one minute I was feeling cold and another feeling hot. Slacking during the last three days resulted in lots of work to be done. All my readings and tutorials are not done, I have yet to listen to all the webcast to refresh my memory and the projects are killing me.

So far I am only making progress in the English module presentation and Japanese Studies project. I am falling behind for the rest. I have yet to start on the synthesis assignment due on the 12th of September and Changing Landscapes project. Stress. I need to buck up and work hard.

Flying papers

Papers were flying around in my house for the past hour. Reason being - I am printing all the 'sh*t' for school. (=P) I think I printed at least two hundred odd pages and used up about a hundred pieces of paper. I suddenly have a sense of satifaction. Erm... not sure why. LOL.

I haven't started on tutorials yet and have yet to finish all the readings. Hopefully the readings will be done by this weekend and will not pile up as the workload gets heavier.

Off to do my tutorials. Tata.

Angry Angry ANGRY!!!

This is the first time I yelled and quarrelled with my father since poly. I hate it and the reason is because he feels that I deserved everything that is happening to me in NUS.

He said I was too proud resulting in me having to drop Korean. He doesn't even understand anything and NUS refuses to give me 100% refund for the module. Then I can't get my Economics tutorial slot. Not a single slot was assigned to me during the two balloting rounds though I ballot for more than 6 slots.

Just my second week of school and all these happened to me. I really hate NUS now.

Honesty is no longer a virtue?

I have been precluded from 'Korean 1' because I have some prior knowledge of the language. I thought honesty is the best policy so I decided to declare that I know some Korean but definitely not everything or majority of the syllabus that 'Korean 1' will be going through. Upon hearing that I have some prior knowledge, the lecturer told me to leave the room as I am not allowed to take the module. Can you imagine how shock I was? I crawled out of bed at 5am, made my way to school at 6am and reached school at 8am for the Korean lecture to be told that I can't take this module.

In the first place, the website that introduces the module did not state that it is strictly for complete beginners. I don't think it is my fault at all for choosing some module that I have interest and slight knowledge about. I feel very upset over this and couldn't concentrate on the other lessons for today. I wasn't the only one with prior knowledge, practically the whole class has prior knowledge and some even took Korean for a whole year as compared to me who took merely 10 lessons of conversational Korean.

The difference between us is just that I am honest and they are lying. So why am I being penalised for being honest? Honesty is no longer a virtue? Or should I put it that it is no longer a virtue that NUS accepts? So, now, I learnt a new thing about NUS - never be honest.

1st week of school

My first lecture in school is so boring. The lecturer is basically going through all e minor stuffs that can be found in IVLE (something like Vbus and Blackboard in TP) during the 1st hour. I thought undergraduates should be independent learners and are supposed to find out these stuffs themselves? I also noticed that many do not pay attention to the academic calendar and solely relied on what was told during the orientation talk. These many includes both poly and JC graduates. I realised that I am pretty different from the majority or at least for now.

After the first lecture in NUS, I had a 2-days break before my second lecture tomorrow. I had to do 26-pages of reading before tomorrow's lecture. I am very angry as this reading material was only posted late in the evening yesterday. If you want your students to do some reading before the lecture, post it up earlier and not just 2 days before the lecture. I only managed to read 1 out of the 26 pages and some background information from Wikipedia. I have a feeling that I will not be able to finish it before the lecture tomorrow.

I am not happy with the way the lecturers in NUS work. ARGH!!!

We Got Married

If you are thinking shot-gun, etc, I am prepared to give you a kick in the butt. LOL.

"We Got Married" is a Korean reality variety show. In this show, they paired up 8 celebrities and they need to play as newly wed. There is no script to memorise and they are playing themselves although they do not know each other beforehand. You will get to see how 4 couples lived together and play as newly wed. Really entertaining.

My favourite couple in the show - Andy from Shinhwa and Solbi from Typhoon.
Andy has a reserve personality. He does not knows how to express his love and feelings for someone. Solbi, on the other end, has a very bright personality. She fears nothing and did not hide the fact that she admires Andy for a long time from the start of the show. Slowly they begin to open their heart to one another though they are not real couple.

The most unrealistic and romantic couple - Alex from Clazziquai and Shin Ae.
Shin Ae is a model who experienced many criticism from the public. She is very shy even after several episodes. When she finally started to get used to Alex who is a very romantic and reliable guy, Alex had to leave the show for his own album. The episode which they parted is really saddening but they came back together after a few episodes.

The most awkward couple - Hyun Joong from SS501 and Hwang Bo from Chakra.
They are a couple to replace another couple that 'divorced' after a few episodes. Hwang Bo is 6 years Hyun Joong senior. They are strange together but really make me laugh a lot. Hyun Joong, 22 years old, is a guy of little words but very detailed and humorous every time he speaks. Hwang Bo is very worried that SS501 fans will be angry at her for taking advantage of Hyun Joong so she is very careful that there is as little skin contact as possible. Though they are awkward together, they are very funny and entertaining.

The most dangerous couple - In Young from Jewelry and Crown J.
In Young has a very fiery yet cute personality. From the 1st episode till the current episode, there is not a single episode that I did not see her tantrums. Crown J also has a fiery personality but he is very accomodating. He tries to give in every time In Young is showing her angry face but he will always have a fight with her first. (=P) But strangely they looks very compatible together.

I have been watching the show for the past few days.

I don't look 21?

I finally cut my hair today. I kept telling myself I want to keep my hair long like it was when we were still in secondary school but yet I really love the length of my hair during Chinese New Year. After debating it in my head, I decided to cut it short. Reason being, it will be neater and will not need much maintenance.

So I asked my mum which salon should I go to as the one I frequent moved without me knowing. My mum decided to accompany me to this salon where there are only 2 good hairdressers. She was there so that I will not end up in the hands of some amateurish hairdresser. Hehe.

After the haircut, my brother joined us as he also wanted to have a new haircut (ok, maybe not so new but shorter haircut). While waiting for my brother, the hairdressers (my mum's friends) asked how old am I. They couldn't believe that I am already 21. They told me that I look I am still in secondary school. Erm... I don't know if I feel insulted or happy at the compliment that I looked younger than my actual age.

That is not all. Yesterday, my Artemis Fowl books finally arrived and I was wearing my Meridian JC PE tee so the guy asked if my principal is still Esther Lai (the principal when I entered Meridian). Well, that means I looks like I am only 17 or 18 to him or maybe the tee looks too new?

Do I really not look like I am already 21? Is that something to be happy about or sad?

3 in 1 out

Received the result of my bidding yesterday. I managed to win 3 modules (Japanese Studies, Economics and Korean) and I lost Communications, and New Media by only a few points. Will try again during Round 2A and hopefully I get my Financial Accounting module. Hehe. (=P)

I know I came from Accounting and Finance and taking this module may sound very wrong but I believe that it will be different in university and I wanted to give myself a easier time so I will be taking it. (=D)
