Random

I cancelled the eyeshadow spree as the shipping cost is really too 'shocking' high. Ended up spree-ing at Spreehouse. (=D) For those who are interested, you can check out the website, 88 eyeshadow spree. All I need to do now is to wait and shake my legs. LOL.

-

Some updates regarding my birthday celebration. I already placed an order for my buffet for 80 pax. Actually I have more than 80 guests. But not to worry as there will be a mini BBQ. (=P)

I will be heading to the cake shop later to order my cake which will be a 'key' (so old-fashioned but no other nicer designs), order satay and otah later on and probably buy some more stuffs. Hehe.

I can't wait. (=P)

Smokey eyes

GREAT!!! I managed to do smokey eyes by myself. I watched videos on Youtube and tried it myself. Hohoho. I am so smart. Hehe. Shameless, right?

But sadly no photos as it doesn't shows well with my camera. Only problem I have now is how to make it balance. (-.-') LOL. My right eye is perfect but my left eye looks lighter no matter how I add dark blue to it

Hopefully I can master it before Saturday. (^^)

-

I bought the dark blue eye shadow and 2 eye shadow brushes from The Face Shop today to try out smokey eyes.

Post for me

I just received my free samples from Fr3b. They are so efficient and that is great. (=D) Will try out the samples soon. Hehe. Those who are worried about whether the website is a scam, not to worry as I got my stuffs alright. (=])

At the same time, I received my post about HOTA. I think most of you should know about HOTA since it made a big hoo-haa a few years ago. HOTA is an act for organ donation in Singapore. Anyone aged between 21 to 60 will automatically be included in this scheme and Muslim will be included starting 1st August 2008. Told my mum I don't wish to opt out and she was quite shock. (=P) Hehe. She asked me why and I told her when I (*choy) die, it doesn't matters to me anymore. If I can save someone after I (*choy) die, it will be good. (>.<) Anyone else thinks this way too?

EYESHADOW SPREE STILL ON TILL FRIDAY (27 JUNE 2008) 12 NOON!

I am sorry everyone, I made a mistake regarding the shipping cost. I am currently trying to rectify the problem. Cost of 1 palette may cost about S$30++ but I am trying to bring down the cost by changing to another seller. Kindly give me some time to rectify this problem.

Poor Wan Xin

Wan Xin just got a Jack Russell Terrier puppy a few months ago. Her puppy's name is Jessnilo. The other day when I met her to bring her puppy for a walk at Bedok Reservoir, she showed me a LOST poster of another Jack Russell. We were commenting that day that the JRT looks cuter than Jessnilo and joking that the eyes are so big and so unlike Jessnilo's devilish ones.

When I was chatting with Wan Xin today, she reminded me of the LOST poster and told me something really funny. Her friend called her this morning and told her to tune in to Class 95 which Glenn Ong had been making appeals to the public to help to find and spot the missing JRT.

2 members of the public called in.

"I saw this long-haired girl, always wearing red, at Bedok Reservoir walking a JRT. The JRT could be the lost dog and I haven't seen her since then."

"I also saw this long-haired girl, wearing a TP volleyball jersey, with her friend walking a JRT at Bedok Reservoir. I also haven't seen her for a while."

Anyway, this is my best imitation of what Wan Xin told me since I didn't tune in to the station.

I asked her if she is the one mentioned by the two callers and laughingly she told me yes. I burst out laughing immediately but quickly collected myself and asked on if she always wears red when she walks Jessnilo. Yes again. I was laughing even harder and this time I asked if the only time she wore a TP volleyball jersey when walking Jessnilo was when she met me. LOL.

AND yes, I was the friend who walked with the long-haired, ghostie girl. WAHAHAHA!!!~ Poor Wan Xin, she has been labelled as a dog-thief. LOL.

Maybe someone can help to call in and tell Glenn Ong that the ghostie girl is the owner of that devilish JRT puppy and the puppy is definitely not the lost dog on Wan Xin's behalf. LOL. Poor Wan Xin.

New purchase

Oh no, I have been spending too much lately. I just bought a pair of shorts from MNG 2 days ago. Luckily there was a sale and I could get the shorts at $31. The material is great and comfortable; the design is great too. But I still find it expensive. (=P)

Jennifer's B'day

It was Jennifer's 21st birthday celebration yesterday. Arrived at the chalet much later than expected as Wan Xin was late and we couldn't get a cab. There was a massive jam outside Costa Sand and Downtown East last night. OMG! We were struck for a long time before the taxi driver encouraged us to alight and walk in which would be much faster. We took his advice and it took only a couple of minutes to get to Costa Sand.

Second problem arose, where was Jennifer's chalet? We walked around and finally found Block S. During these times, Wan Xin was telling us she was very full but as we approached the chalet, she started getting hungry and by the time we started eating, she ate more than us. LOL.

An hour after, it was cake cutting ceremony. The birthday girl was really funny as she took out 1 big and 2 small candles instead of 2 big and 1 small. Lol. It took pretty long before someone finally noticed it.
The pretty birthday girl with her finally correct candles. (=P) Everyone wants to be the 'reporter' of the event so Jennifer had a hard time keeping up with the cameras' flash. Lol.
"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Jennifer~, Happy Birthday to you!" "祝你生日快乐,祝你生日快乐, 祝你生日快乐~, 祝你生日快乐!"
A group photo with the poly pals who were there. (=>) After eating the cake and standing and lazing around, Jennifer and her cousins (I think) started water splashing session. Lol. Really funny but I hope it will not happen to me. (=P) Okay, end of report.

Birthday celebration = BUSY

I am currently busy with the preparations of my 21st birthday celebration. Major problem is food!

I am ordering from Neo Garden for my buffet but there are so many questions that were left unanswered. I just bombarded them with 10 questions through the email and hopefully I will receive their reply tomorrow.

My BBQ is a problem now. I am having BBQ on 2 nights. The first will be a mini one with my close relatives and the second will be during the celebration day. My parents are now cutting down on the BBQ food that I intended on ordering. Reason being - no one will want to stand at the BBQ pit for hours when there is a buffet. Fair enough so I already cut my BBQ food to the minimum. But still I will need to find someone who is willing to help out at the BBQ pit.

My cake is another problem. I wanted a durian cake initially but my parents are pretty against it. Not for the price (since I am the one paying) but not everyone takes a liking for durians. We already found out 5 among my close relatives who don't like durians. That means I have to think of another cake base. I am also still quite confused on the design of the cake to get.

Food problem as above and now decoration. I wanted helium balloons at first but realised that it may not be feasible as the chalet most likely has ceiling fan and the living room is not air-conditioned. So I will have to think of something else now.

Planning is tiring and I can't imagine Leanne planning 2 birthdays. Leanne, 你辛苦了!

I found my belt!

That is 1 item off my wishing list. (=D) Shopped at Bugis with Esther yesterday. Found my belt like 5 minutes after meeting Esther. Hehe. I am always an efficient shopper. (=p) Went to BHG to play with the perfume tester and we found a perfume that I loved. The problem is I didn't dare to ask for the price. The perfume is Christian Dior branded and I presumed that it will be bloody expensive.

BUT

I keep the tester strip. (=p) It still smells good and strong. Hehe.

We walked around a little more and Esther bought a Commodities bag. Then we decided it was lunch time. We met pretty early, 11am, and we hadn't had our lunch so we headed to Seoul Garden. Actually I wanted to introduce Esther to V8 but since both of us hadn't dine at Seoul Garden for a long time, we thought we should eat there. We each paid around $16 for the buffet and I think we wasted our money. We didn't eat much. In fact, we ate very little. Still, I ate more than Esther. Hehe.

After filling our stomachs, we went back to Charles & Keith in search for a pair of heels that Esther has been eyeing on. Didn't manage to find it there but I found a really stylish dinner pouch. It is very pretty and EXPENSIVE. For a small bag, it costs $49.90. Maybe you will find the price alright but I am not someone who splurge on stuffs that I cannot use frequently. (=x)

So it is not surprising at all that I didn't buy it. I went back to Tampines a couple of hours later and bought a bag from Esprit. I don't think I will be able to use it frequently but at least I will be able to use it when I go shopping. (=D) Best of all, the price is only $29.90. Usual price being $49.90. I am STINGY! (=p)

Shopping

I am going shopping at Bugis today, in search for a belt to go with that yellow dress. (=D)

I also need to start withdrawing cash from my bank account to pay for my b'day expenses. I hate to see how my bank balance will fall after my b'day. Sob. There is already a drop of almost $2000 in my POSB and soon I will see $0 in my UOB account. (T.T) I WANT to collect my tuition fee!!! That will at least makes me feel lots better.

This means less money to shop today. Oh no! I felt so deprived of shopping ever since I bought my laptop. I kept feeling guilty about the purchase and not to mention knowing that I could get F6S with more RAM and hard disk space for the same price. (T___T)

I didn't go to the PC Show because I fear this but I still got to know that. (-.-") I have been consoling myself that I paid more (in terms of opportunity cost) for better processor (mine is T8300 2.4GHz and the one at PC Show is T8100 2.1GHz) and a white cover. Please tell me I am right and don't try to contradict me. I might bring a knife to your house the next day. LOL. Just kidding. I will just use a chopper. (=P)

Actually I don't mind the hard disk space at all since I was given a free 160GB external hard disk. The person who sold me the laptop told me not to upgrade my RAM to 3GB as increment in RAM may cause a fall in the speed of the laptop. It has something to do with having 2 RAM of different capacity and slowing down the processor. Whatever heck. I cannot understand that part but the rest is fine. Oh yes, my laptop is lighter. (=x) Hehe. about 200g lighter than the black F6S. Great, I feel better now. (=P) Hehe.

B'day wear hunt

I have been hunting for my b'day wear. Finally found something I like and not too formal. And it is in YELLOW! I have taken a liking for yellow, brown and pink lately so that suggests why most of my stuffs are yellow, brown and pink now. Lol. I used to be a white and purple person but I have opened up to other colours now. Hehe.

Being able to find this dress is all thanks to Leanne. (=D) Thank you, Leanne. Hehe. She had been pasting websites to me when we were online because I just couldn't find something that I like. After many fruitless days, I finally found my love today.

I had been saying that I didn't want something too short but I still end up with a 28.5 inch long dress. (=P) Not that it is very short but I just got a scratch from Wan Xin's puppy yesterday. Lol. The scratch is quite long and is on my left thigh so initially I wanted something that could cover the scratch but not anymore. I think e brown wound will goes well with the yellow dress. (=P)

*

Went to T3 today with Wan Xin and Darius. This is the first time we meet Darius after his surgery. He looked okay just that he kept saying 'ouch'. LOL. T3 is really disappointing. So quiet and spacious yet not fully utilised. While waiting for Darius-late king to reach T3 we walked around T3 and by the time the late king reached, we were so sick of T3. We left and headed to T2 then T1. We kept moving around and finally settled at Popeyes for some fries and shortly after we left.

Wan Xin and I brought our cameras but there is totally nothing to take. The airport is getting boring now. Lol.

Courts = Unprofessional

I am raging in anger now. I feel like tearing Courts apart at this very moment. Please never shop at Courts. Their after-sale service is like sh*t! I am going to share my experience here with the email reply from Courts.

I bought an Acer notebook from Courts (Tampines outlet) on 4th July 2005. It was a very quick procedure as I knew what I wanted to get. I told the sales personnel what I wanted and he told me to get '2 years extended warranty'. I agreed as I read that notebook is not long-lasting and getting additional years of warranty is only for the good. So I proceeded to the cashier to make payment and after I made payment, the sales personnel approached me to inform me, only after payment, that the notebook was out of stock. I wasn't in a hurry so I said I would wait. This was my first shopping experience with Courts and at that moment, I did not realise that I have to get the tax invoice back from the cashier which the cashier did not return to me.

The next day, I went back to Courts to get a photocopied version of the invoice from the sales personnel. All these times, the sales personnel did not inform me about the terms and conditions of the extended warranty.

Weeks after 4th of July, I finally received my notebook. The sales personnel did not call me up but it was me who kept calling him up for updates. He did not bother to call me up even when the notebook arrived in store.

2 years and 11 months passed peacefully. The notebook served me well until the frequency of the screen started giving me problems. I decided to get a new notebook which is the current one I am using. When I decided to double-check my invoice for the Acer notebook, I remember the 2 years extended warranty so I told my mum I would send it for repair.

I called the extended warranty hotline and no one answered, thinking that self carrying in will do the trick, I carried the 3kg Acer notebook to the outlet that I bought my notebook from. I was not given basic attention and was told to call the extended warranty hotline again. So I called again. First try, the line was cut off and finally the second try managed to get me through to the customer service officer on the other end. The officer checked my records and told me my warranty expired 1 year ago. I was so surprised that I almost shouted at the officer.

'2 years extended warranty' to me refers to 2 years additional warranty on top of the original warranty covered by Acer. But no, I was told that '2 years extended warranty' means 1+1 year warranty. Can you imagine my shock? I paid $199 for only 1 extra year of warranty and when my invoice stated '2 years extended warranty'.

I wasn't ready to let it rest yet so with encouragement from Leanne, I sent a complaint to Courts.

"I bought an Acer notebook from your Tampines outlet on the 4th July 2005 with an extended warranty of 2 years. Now that the screen of the notebook has some problems, I called your Extended Warranty hotline to be told that my warranty expired last year. It was outraging to think that I spent $199 for 2 years extended warranty but instead furnished with only a 1+1 year of warranty.

Your invoice also stated '2 years extended warranty'. Unless I am very mistaken, I understood the word 'extended' as additional. If you do not wish to comply with the stated warranty in your invoice, kindly not put the word 'extended' to mislead your customers. I was also not told of this when your sales personnel enthusiastically encouraged me to purchase extended warranty.

Personally, I felt very cheated by the way Courts works. I hope for a satisfying reply."

After acquiring some additional information from me, here is the reply from Courts:

"Dear Ms Kelly

Thank you for your email dated 13 June 2008 about the warranty period of your Acer notebook.

We apologise for the misunderstanding. Please allow us to confirm that you have received a copy of the Terms and Conditions of the Extended Warranty (printed at the back of your invoice).

We like to refer you to the clause which states “The term of the Contract is two(2) to five(5) years from purchase date or delivery date (whichever is later) inclusive of original manufacturer’s warranty period”. As you purchased the Acer notebook on 4 July 2005, the Extended Warranty expired on 3 July 2007. As such you may need to approach ACER’s technical support for support/repair.

We seek your understanding in this matter."

No, I don't understand and I don't wish to understand. Why wasn't the terms and conditions made known to me in the first place before I made payment?

So I replied again:

"I do have the invoice but it is a photocopied one of the original invoice. When I paid for my notebook at the cashier, the cashier did not return the invoice to me and I didn't know that I was supposed to collect it back. I had to double back the next day to get a photocopied version from the sales personnel and he only photocopied the first page. So I am perfectly unaware of any terms and conditions of the extended warranty which the sales personnel did not also highlight to me.

On top of it, I did not receive the notebook on the date of purchase. I received it only weeks after the purchase as I wasn't told the notebook was out of stock until I paid for it. I had to keep calling for updates of the notebook instead of the sales personnel calling me up. It was surprising to know that this wasn't noted in the invoice or data system on your side.

I have been enduring all these unprofessional service on your side and now I have to endure more. Thanks for you reply but I am utterly disappointed by the after-sale service provided by Courts. I am never buying from Courts again."

I am pretty sure I won't be getting a reply for this with that last sentence in my email. Be it that they replied or not, I marked my words never to shop at Courts again.

Durians

I love durians. They are so yummy and tasty but the durians that we buy are usually the '3 for $10' or '2 boxes for $20' types.

Yesterday, a durian seller came to my house to hard-sell his durians which are from Malaysia and fresh from the trees. Price is $6/kg. Thinking that the durians will be the normal small-sized durians, we decided to get 3.

But when the durians finally crossed the customs and reached my house, we realised that they were huge and very heavy. Thinking of paying about $30-40 for 3 durians, we ended up paying $77 for them! 13kg in total for the 3 durians!

We opened one in the evening to savour the fresh durians. The smell is really strong but the durians are not ripe so the flesh is quite tough and not very sweet or bitter. Still, I can tell that they are really quality ones.

Look at my yummy durians. (=P)

DIY (kiddy) day

It was Kiddy Day yesterday. (=D)
Meet Leanne in Parkway to do clay painting.
Decided on our clay figures. Leanne's the girl and mine is the pig.
They looks weird together. LOL.

Colours available for us to create our very own clay dolls. This reminds me very much about art is primary school. (=P) Playing with paint. I sucks at drawing so when it comes to art exams during secondary school, my theme is always 'distortion'. (=P) I am GREAT at distortion. Hehe.

Leanne's finished product. No mouth but cute. (=D)

My still uncompleted pig. Adding gold colour to the bandage.

My festive pig. (=P) I have no idea whether it is a ;he' or a 'she' or maybe a 'he-she". (=P) It looks a lot like a 'he' but holds a handbag so I supposed it is a 'she'. This pig is good for display during all festive days. New year, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and Christmas. Lol. Cute? (=P)

Smoking

If you were to come to my house, remember to take a look at the "No Smoking" sign taped against the wall of the staircase besides my house. This is thanks to a very irresponsible neighbour who lives 2 floors below me. He started smoking outside his house and I guessed someone complained and he moved further up till he reached my floor. (>=[) So angry with him. When he first started smoking outside his house, I can already smell it almost immediately and not to even mention smoking outside my house.

He can smoke all he wants but who mentioned the needs or wants to die of lung cancer? Passive smoking is worse than smoking. My grandfather doesn't even smoke at home.

Singapore should ban smoking in the corridors!

At this moment when I am typing here, HE IS SMOKING AGAIN!!!

I feel like kicking his ass now!

Sale~

I am so broke yet I want to shop. (-.-)
I keep seeing the "Sale" sign around. Online and outside the stores.
I really want to shop!

MNG sale is coming soon, 19th June. GSS is still ongoing. I want to buy some tops and bottoms, laptop accessories, new handphone, cute stationery, etc. Shopping, I am so deprived of it. Sob.

I also want to eat a lot of things. I want to eat Mcdonalds breakfast, sushi, pizza, pasta, snacks, etc.

I BOUGHT NEW LAPTOP

I went to Sim Lim Square yesterday wanting to get Asus brochure before the PC show so that I can compare the prices and free gifts during the PC show.

BUT!!!

I saw this exclusive laptop that is $400 cheaper than F9SG and yet only slightly different from it. It has 2GB memory instead of 3GB, 160GB harddisk instead of 240GB, 13.3" screen instead of 12.1", matt white cover instead of glossy black and most importantly, it is built using more sturdy materials. The rest is all the same.

After considering all the factors and taking in the advise from the sales personnel, I decided to buy immediately. (=P)

So introducing to you my new laptop: F6S.

Pretty? I bet you say yes. (0^^0)

Can you see the black pad on top of the keyboard? That is a laptop care pad. It can work as a screen wiper, screen protector and also a mouse pad. (=>) The screen protector is out of stock so I haven't remove the temporary protective layer.

You probably also realised that the keyboard is a little greyish. That is because I bought a silicone keyboard protector to protect my keyboard from dirt and water spillage.

FINALLY, I want to show you my cover. (=P) I bought the Garskin from Popular and DIY - paste it onto my laptop cover. Cute? (=D)

Total damage: $1898 (laptop), accessories ($29.90)

TPJC concert

31 May 2008
TPJC Le Musique 2008
Victoria Concert Hall

Presenting to you, Guitar Ensemble

Brought my camera but photography and video recording is strictly prohibited so no photo of the performance by both the Guitar Ensemble and Band.

The Guitar Ensemble played a total of 10 pieces namely "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas", "Gu Dan Bei Ban Qui", "Recuerdos De La Alhambra", "Amigos Para Siempre", "Tea for Two", "A Royal March", "El Bimbo", "English Country Garden", "Shepherd's Dance" and "Una Noche De Espana".

My personal favourites are "Tea for Two" and "Una Noche De Espana". "Tea for Two" is a lively and well-known piece. You can check out the song in Youtube. "Una Noche De Espana" is a very grand piece combining guitar with the winds instruments bringing a splendid ending for the Guitar Ensemble.

Next on stage was the band bringing to us 6 very loud pieces. I like instrumental music but I must really say the performance by the band was kind of disappointing, The pieces were not well-chosen and I personally felt that it was more of a show than a performance. Reason being the coordination between the band members was not good enough and many of them were moving between a couple of instruments during each piece therefore everyone was looking at those moving instead of concentrating on the performance. I only have one favourite out of the 6 pieces which is "Cavetowns' Cappadocia". Nothing to rave about the band performance.

After the end of the concert, we took some pictures together.
(From left: Me, Mum, Brother, Wei Tao, Jing Yu)

(From left: De Cong, Wei Tao, Brother)

We left shortly after taking some photos as it was really crowded. On our way back to the MRT station, I went to the restroom with my Jing Yu and cam-whored a little. Below was probably the best photo taken in the restroom. (=P)

That's all. (^^)
